I Love you - Mama
William “Isaac” Tucker has dedicated his life to the family farm he now lovingly tends, a legacy he has been part of since early childhood. As the youngest of five siblings, he fondly recalls the joy of lending a hand, whether it was cutting and hanging tobacco or gingerly steering the tractor in low gear while his family expertly tossed square bales onto the trailer he was pulling. Isaac’s father, Larry, also grew up nurturing this very land, handed down from his father, making them the second and third generation to contribute to its flourishing success.
Hard work was woven into the fabric of their family. Many mornings before school began, Isaac and his brothers were tasked with chores like weed- eating along the fence lines before catching the school bus; yet, Isaac always loved the work, never complaining and earning himself the nickname, “Littleman” along the way.
While chances to engage in high school sports or join academic clubs came and went, he always chose to return to the farm, eager to assist his father with whatever tasks were necessary to finish out the day’s work.
Isaac attended boot camp for the Army National Guard, the summer between his junior and senior year of high school, and began serving his time of service shortly after graduation.
Isaac's life took a beautiful turn when he discovered he was going to be a father. In October 2008, he joyfully welcomed his daughter, Brooke, into the world. Around the same time, he embarked on a fulfilling journey as a lineman at Salt River, his local electric co-op. This role, which he embraces with the same passion he has for farming, has become a significant part of his life. This year, he proudly celebrates 19 years of dedicated service with the company, a testament to his commitment and love for his work.
A supportive husband and dedicated father to four, he is always making time for his wife and children, engaging them in the farm-life as much as he possibly can and no matter the amount of daily work he may be tackling.
His steadfast nature shines through in every aspect of his life. Responsible and a natural strategist, he laid the groundwork early in his career, envisioning a future where he can fully embrace his passion.
With a clear goal in mind, he plans to retire after 30 years of dedicated service in 2037, when he will be just 49 years old, ready to step into the fulfilling life he has always dreamed of -farming, full-time.
Until that day arrives, he remains committed to both his job and his passion, returning home to nurture the land he loves.
Currently, he tends to 60 Angus feeder calves, five spirited horses, and two playful ponies, while also working hay during the summer months. He takes great pride in maintaining the property, ensuring it always looks its best.
Through it all, he instills in his children the values of hard work and
reward, hoping to ignite within them the same profound love for this
farm that has fueled his dreams for so many years.
Leslie first crossed paths with Isaac in the winter of 2014, after a chance outing following both of their company's Christmas parties. Quick to introduce himself, they were engaged the following year and married in June of 2017.
Before they had met, Leslie had dedicated a decade to the bourbon industry at the iconic, Jim Beam Distillery, following in the footsteps of her parents, who had amassed a remarkable, 79 years of service there, between them.
During Leslie's early years of work there, she also attended Sullivan University full-time, studying Travel, Tourism, and Event Management, something she has always been passionate about. Even while working a full-time job and juggling a full-time course load, she maintained an impressive 3.87 GPA and earned Dean’s List recognition throughout her tenure.
It was also during this time she became a dedicated volunteer, channeling her passion for organizing, hosting and community engagement by leading a array of events - from spirited political campaigns to charitable fundraising; two of which raised over $150,000 towards the ongoing medical expenses of friends she personally knew affected by life threatening illnesses.
Life threw an unexpected twist, shortly after marrying Isaac and discovering they were expecting their first child together, only a few months later...as it was then discovered that Leslie's mother had been diagnosed with cancer.
Dealing with the new pregnancy and the unknowns surrounding her mother's health, she ultimately made the decision to leave Jim Beam, to help take care of her instead.
Celebrations filled the air as the couple welcomed their daughter, Masden Mae, in July of 2018. Just a few months later, they faced a profound moment of hope when Leslie's mother was set to receive a life-saving organ transplant that November. Remarkably, Leslie's cousin was a perfect match for a kidney donation, selflessly giving her mother many more years added to her life.
With things slowly turning around, Leslie began to make plans to re-enter the workforce the following January, as Masden would be turning six months old.
Just as she was gaining momentum and the month of January finally arrived, the couple received another unexpected surprise that they pregnant with expecting twins.
Although ecstatic, the couple realized that any ambitious career plans would need to be put on hold once again, to prioritize in raising their rapidly growing family.
The family welcomed their third and fourth children, Jeb and Jax, just as Masden was turning 14-months old, and oldest daughter Brooke was entering high school at the age of 14.
Difficult trials still to face, the couple experienced yet another challenge as the twins hit their 4-month mark—after they were involved in a motorcycle accident. While Isaac was fortunate to walk away without injury, Leslie suffered a significant arm fracture that required her to spend four nights in the hospital and undergo four corrective surgeries.
She remained diligent to making the circumstances work considering her temporary handicap, with remarkable resourcefulness, she adapted to her new reality, using one arm to care for their three little ones, all under the age of two at the time.
Over the past six years as a stay-at-home mom, Leslie has embodied unwavering perseverance in the face of challenges, and attributes those experiences towards her growth and refuses to let trials slow her down in the pursuit of her dreams.
In the summer of 2023, she successfully launched her own photography business from the farm, enjoying remarkable growth in its early stages. As the couple acquired more of the farm property towards the end of 2024, the demands of managing the farm naturally took on greater importance, prompting her to shift her focus from her former business to the broader vision of supporting the farm's growth.
Through it all, her passion for travel and learning remained strong, driving her to attend sustainability workshops across the country that centered on sustainable agriculture and tourism. This journey deepened her understanding of the vital role agritourism could play in enhancing the economic viability of local communities.
Recognizing a unique opportunity to empower rural businesses through agritourism, she recently founded the Kentucky Agritourism Association, where she proudly serves as President and CEO.
She attributes her accomplishments to the invaluable lessons learned about unwavering grit. Embracing the challenges that life presented, she pushed through adversity, never losing sight of her dreams and remaining steadfast in her pursuit of the future she has always been passionate about.
With a steadfast commitment to championing the growth and sustainability of Kentucky's rural communities, she seamlessly blends her passion for the land with her dedication to fostering meaningful community development, excited for what the future may bring.
